"She does not sound like anyone else, she writes great songs, and performs them well in front of a live audience."
-Larry Oakes, The Bitter End Singer-Songwriter Sessions*
Hey, friends! I'm Yaniza. I sing and play guitar and smile a lot :)
I'm an NYC-based singer-songwriter, Ithaca College graduate, YouTuber, Hufflepuff, and Swifty. I've loved singing since I was little and I learned how to play guitar and write songs in high school thanks to Brian Letiecq and my school's music department. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with minors in Counseling and English Literature. I loved college! While I studied Psychology, I was still able to do something music-related every semester, whether it was through a club or through consistently putting up YouTube videos. I loved that all of the grades and deadlines revolved around classwork and the fun revolved around music :)
Now that I have graduated, I am working as a preschool teacher and I'm continuing to play shows in NYC. I was so honored to be named Artist of the Month of February 2014 at The Bitter End! I've played numerous shows there and it will always be one of my favorite spots to jam. I've also performed at Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bowery Electric, B.B. King, and The Delancey.
My biggest musical influences are Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat, and Sara Bareilles. I love pop music as well as laid back singer-songwriter music. One of my favorite lyrics appears in a song by Passenger that goes "all I need's a whisper in a world that only shouts." This line means so much to me because I feel like it represents my journey as a musician. Everyone loves flashy, over-the-top, loud artists--and don't get me wrong - I love them too!--but sometimes it feels like the quiet singer-songwriters get looked over. Lets show the world that whispers are just as important as shouts :) Thanks for the message, Passenger!
I upload covers, originals, updates, or challenges to YouTube and I have three musical compilations: two EPs, "Feel This Way" (self-produced) and "Sticks & Stones," and my album, "Secrets." All of which are available on iTunes. I'm super excited about them!! So I really hope you enjoy them as well. Through releasing this music, I have gotten to work with incredible producers/fellow musicians, Gian Stone, Harper James, and Ben Rice. I learned so much from them and I would not have those wonderful records without them.
If I haven't bored you yet, thanks so much for checking out my website! I made it all by myself, which is a big deal cause technology usually works against me. Have fun clicking all the buttons and such! Let's be friends :) <3
*Thanks, Rachael Moore, for interviewing Larry Oakes.
Yaniza Doré is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter born and raised in Manhattan, who hummed along to music before she could speak. She always loved singing, but it became her passion when she stumbled upon her first voice & guitar lessons at age 16.

She has performed at The Bitter End in NYC, where she earned the title of Artist of the Month in February 2014. Additionally, she has performed at Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, The Bowery Electric, Sidewalk Open Stage, B.B. King, and The Delancey in NYC.
